Newcastle United Set to Bid €20 Million for Federico Chiesa

Newcastle United

Newcastle United is reportedly preparing a €20 million bid to acquire Italian international Federico Chiesa. The Juventus winger is also being offered an annual salary of €7 million as part of the proposed deal.

A report from Tutto Juve highlights that Newcastle United has expressed interest in Chiesa, who appears to be surplus to requirements under Juventus manager Thiago Motta’s plans for the 2024/25 season. The Magpies are thus looking to capitalize on the situation by making a formal offer.

The Decline of Federico Chiesa’s Form

Since his return from a severe knee injury, Chiesa’s performance has notably dipped. The former Fiorentina star had been a standout performer leading into the 2021/22 season, buoyed by his successful UEFA Euro 2020 campaign and impressive debut season with Juventus.

However, persistent fitness issues have hampered his impact since his permanent transfer to Juventus. Chiesa has amassed 131 appearances for the Bianconeri, contributing 32 goals and 23 assists. Despite this, he might have already played his last match for the Serie A giants.

The Italian international has fallen out of favor with Juventus’ current strategy, opening the door for potential suitors. This situation has not gone unnoticed by several top European clubs, with Newcastle United particularly keen on securing his services in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Prospects of a Premier League Move

Newcastle United’s pursuit of Federico Chiesa comes as no surprise. The club is actively seeking a wide attacker to reinforce their squad amid doubts about Miguel Almiron’s future.

As they contemplate Almiron’s potential departure, Newcastle is in need of a capable replacement. Chiesa has emerged as a compelling option for the club, with reports suggesting that Newcastle is prepared to meet the financial demands, offering Juventus a transfer fee of €20 million and Chiesa a contract worth €7 million annually.

Despite Newcastle’s offer, it remains uncertain whether Chiesa will accept the terms. Reports indicate that the 26-year-old is looking to join a club with a strong presence in the UEFA Champions League, which could complicate a potential move to Newcastle this summer.
